Photo Contest Rules

 The current contest is for photos of Micro Minerals.  We have changed the previous rules, and now the minerals can be any color.  The specimen can be any size, mounted or unmounted, but the mineral must be micro in size.  The specimen can be the property of the photographer or borrowed from a friend, but obviously the image must be taken by the submitter.

The intent of the contest is to encourage non-professional photographers to take pictures of micro minerals.  All photo’s must be digital so they can be shown on a digital picture frame and posted on the web site.  Photos will be provided with labels with Mineral name and location.  The names of the photographers will be added after judging is over.  

Judging
Photos will be judged for;

1. Impact    2. Creativity       3. Style

4. Composition 5. Center of Interest and  6. Lighting  

All contestants will be limited to 3 photos.  Email the photos as attachments to an eMail that you send to me at

In the eMail, describe the equipment that you used to take the image and attach the images to the eMail.  

Submitting a picture gives the IMMA permission to use the image for educational purposes.
